Mechanism
Clindamycin is a lincosamide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis, thereby reducing the population of Cutibacterium acnes on the skin. Benzoyl peroxide acts as a keratolytic and an antimicrobial agent. It releases free oxygen radicals that oxidize bacterial proteins, effectively killing C. acnes, and also helps to shed dead skin cells and reduce comedo formation.
