Mechanism

Ceftaroline has structural modifications allowing for binding to and inactivation of the altered PBPs expressed by MRSA, MRSE, and penicillin-resistant S. pneumoniae. It has enhanced gram-positive activity, especially its ability to bind to the low-affinity PBPs.
