K+ Channel Blocker (Class III) · Antiarrhythmic
Dofetilide prolongs action potentials and the QT interval by potently blocking the IKr channel. Increased late Na+ current, likely due to inhibition of phosphoinositide 3-kinase, may also contribute. The drug has virtually no extracardiac pharmacological effects.
