Mechanism
Etesevimab is a monoclonal antibody that binds to a distinct but overlapping epitope in the receptor binding domain (RBD) of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein.
Indications
treatment of mild to moderate COVID-19 in nonhospitalized patients with laboratory-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection who are at high risk for progressing to severe disease and/or hospitalization (as part of a combination with bamlanivimab)
Contraindications
- SARS-CoV-2 antigenic variants of concern emerged that evaded its action, leading to EUA revocation
