Mechanism
A humanized monoclonal antibody that binds the β7 integrin subunit, blocking both α4β7 and αEβ7 heterodimers. It inhibits the interaction of αEβ7-positive T cells with E-cadherin, thus inhibiting the recruitment of T cells to both the vascular and epithelial compartments in the gut mucosa.
Indications
moderate-to-severe Crohn’s disease (showed promise in Phase III trials)ulcerative colitis (mixed results for induction, no significant effect on maintenance in trials)

Common
potential to stimulate the production of antidrug antibodies (observed in ~5% of patients)good safety profile with few serious adverse events in clinical trials
