Mechanism

Agonist of cortical 5HT1A receptors and an antagonist of 5HT2A receptors. Leads to decreases of 5HT levels in the cortex and increases in dopamine (DA) and norepinephrine (NE).

Indications

Hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) in premenopausal womenFemale sexual interest/arousal disorder (FSIAD)generalized hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) in premenopausal women

Contraindications

  • concomitant alcohol use
