Mechanism
HI-6 is a bis-quaternary aldoxime that acts as a potent reactivator for organophosphate-inhibited acetylcholinesterase (AChE). It nucleophilically attacks the conjugated phosphorus of the inhibited enzyme, forming a phospho-oxime and regenerating active AChE.
Pharmacokinetics
Protein binding
Does not cross the blood-brain barrier, limiting effectiveness to peripheral nervous system sites.
