Mechanism
Inhibits a variety of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Active in the presence of pus and against Pseudomonas, clostridia, which are not inhibited by typical sulfonamides. Mafenide and its metabolite are carbonic anhydrase (CAse) inhibitors.
