Mechanism
Methamphetamine acts centrally to release dopamine and other biogenic amines and to inhibit neuronal and VMATs as well as MAO. Small doses produce prominent central stimulant effects, while larger doses cause a sustained rise in systolic and diastolic blood pressures mainly due to cardiac stimulation.
