Mechanism
A synthetic androgen designed to have higher anabolic and lower androgenic activity, but for practical purposes, its effects are similar to testosterone, mediated through the same androgen receptor.
Indications

Dosing
- Adult
- 2–5 mg OD–BD oral; 25 mg i.m. weekly
- Pediatric
- 0.04 mg/kg/day
Contraindications
- carcinoma of prostate
- male breast carcinoma
- liver disease
- kidney disease
- pregnancy (masculinization of female foetus)
- men aged >65 years
- coronary artery disease
- congestive heart failure (CHF)
- sleep apnoea
- migraine
- epilepsy
