Moclobemide is a reversible and selective inhibitor of monoamine oxidase A (MAO-A). MAO-A is an enzyme responsible for the metabolism of neurotransmitters such as norepinephrine, dopamine, and serotonin. By reversibly inhibiting MAO-A, moclobemide increases the concentrations of these monoamines in the brain, thereby exerting its therapeutic effects.
Increased risk of adverse effects from almotriptan, including serotonin syndrome.
Almotriptan is contraindicated in patients who have taken an MAO inhibitor within the preceding 2 weeks.
