Mechanism
Nefopam is a nonopioid analgesic that does not inhibit prostaglandin synthesis.
Indications
traumatic painpostoperative painshort-lasting musculoskeletal painpain persistent and not adequately relieved by other analgesics
Dosing
- Adult
- 30–60 mg TDS oral, 20 mg i.m. 6 hourly
Contraindications
- epileptics

nausea (often dose limiting)
Serious
- anticholinergic effects (dry mouth, urinary retention, blurred vision)
- sympathomimetic effects (tachycardia, nervousness)
