Mechanism

Binds the bacterial 23S rRNA of the 50S ribosomal subunit, inhibiting protein synthesis; active against Gram-positive organisms including MRSA, VRE; less myelosuppression vs linezolid.

Indications

Acute bacterial skin and skin-structure infections (Gram-positive, including MRSA)

Dosing

Adult
200 mg PO or IV once daily for 6 days.
