Mechanism

Tenofovir alafenamide fumarate is a prodrug that is taken up into cells, deesterified, concentrated, and phosphorylated to tenofovir diphosphate. Tenofovir diphosphate is a competitive inhibitor of reverse transcriptase for both HBV and HIV-1, causing chain termination when incorporated into DNA.

Adult dose for children weighing at least 45 kg

Not recommended for eGFR <15 mL/min/1.73 m2
