Mechanism

BBIBP-CorV contains inactivated coronavirus (inactivated with β-propiolactone) which prevents viral replication but preserves all viral proteins. When injected, these inactivated viral particles are taken up by antigen-presenting cells (APCs) that present coronavirus proteins, resulting in an immune response.
