Mechanism
Desoxycorticosterone acetate enhances Na+ reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubule in the kidney, with an associated increase in K+ and H+ excretion. Its action is exerted by gene-mediated increased transcription of mRNA in renal tubular cells, leading to synthesis of proteins like Na+K+ ATPase and the β subunit of the amiloride sensitive Na+ channel.

- Adult
- 2–5 mg sublingual, 10–20 mg i.m. once or twice weekly.
