pan-HDAC inhibitor · Antineoplastic agent
Panobinostat is an orally bioavailable, nonselective pan-HDAC inhibitor. The inhibitory activity leads to apoptosis of malignant cells via multiple pathways. Inhibition of HDAC activity causes the accumulation of acetyl groups on histone lysine residues, an open chromatin structure, and activation of target genes that are selectively repressed in tumors.
