Mechanism
Pegylation of Interferon-α2a, through linkage to polyethylene glycol, results in slower absorption, decreased clearance, and more sustained serum IFN concentrations, permitting a once-weekly dosing schedule. It has a broad spectrum of antiviral activity and modulates the immune system.
