Mechanism
Penicillin G is an antibiotic that kills Treponema pallidum by interfering with bacterial cell wall synthesis. T. pallidum is susceptible to very low concentrations of penicillin G, but a long period of exposure is required due to the organism's unusually slow rate of multiplication.
