Pyrantel pamoate is a depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agent. It opens nonselective cation channels and induces persistent activation of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, specifically the L type, leading to spastic paralysis of the worm. It also inhibits cholinesterases.
