Mechanism

Certolizumab is a tumour necrosis factor (TNF) alpha inhibitor. It selectively binds to and neutralizes soluble and transmembrane TNF-alpha, a key pro-inflammatory cytokine. This inhibition reduces inflammation and prevents disease progression in autoimmune conditions.

Indications

Severe active ankylosing spondylitis in patients whose disease has responded inadequately to, or who are intolerant of, NSAIDsSevere non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis in patients whose disease has responded inadequately to, or who are intolerant of, NSAIDsRheumatoid arthritis if there has been an inadequate response to combination therapy with conventional DMARDS
