Brentuximab
Monoclonal Antibody · Antineoplastic
Also known as Brentuximab vedotin
Mechanism
Brentuximab vedotin is an antibody-drug conjugate that targets CD30, a cell surface marker expressed on anaplastic large T-cell lymphomas and Reed-Sternberg cells in Hodgkin lymphoma. It consists of a chimeric IgG1 antibody linked to monomethylauristatin E (MMAE), a potent microtubule-disrupting agent. Upon binding to CD30, the complex is internalized, and MMAE is proteolytically cleaved, leading to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis of the cancer cells.
