Mechanism
Daclizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that binds to the CD25 subunit of the interleukin-2 receptor (IL-2R) on the surface of activated, but not resting, T cells. This binding blocks IL-2-mediated T-cell activation, targeting growth-factor pathways. The mechanism limits clonal expansion of T cells and potentially promotes immune tolerance, resulting in a relative decrease of the expression of the α chain of the IL-2 receptor.
