Mechanism
Fremanezumab is a humanised monoclonal antibody that binds to the calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) ligand. By binding to CGRP, it inhibits the function of CGRP at its receptor, preventing its binding and activation of the receptor. This action helps to prevent migraine attacks.
Indications
Prophylaxis of migraine in patients who have at least 4 migraine days per month (initiated by a specialist)
