Mechanism
Galcanezumab is a monoclonal antibody that binds specifically to the calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) ligand. By binding to CGRP, it prevents CGRP from binding to and activating its receptor. This mechanism inhibits CGRP function, thereby preventing migraine attacks.
Indications
Prophylaxis of migraine (in patients who have at least 4 migraine days per month and whose migraine is not adequately controlled by oral agents)Prophylaxis of cluster headache
