Mechanism
Pimecrolimus is a topical drug that affects the immune response. It is used in the management of inflammatory skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.
Indications
Mild to moderate atopic eczemaFacial, flexural and genital psoriasis (off-label, short-term, under specialist supervision, in patients whose condition has not responded adequately to other treatments, or who are intolerant of them)
Dosing
- Adult
- mg/wk (maximum of 15 mg/wk). This dosage may be increased. gradually to 10-25 mg/wk if needed. Widely used regimens include. weekly intramuscular injections of 10-25 mg (maximum of 30. when the cumulative dose reaches 1-1.5 g. A baseline liver biopsy. usual oral dosage is 2-3 mg/kg/day in divided doses,
