Mechanism
Ranibizumab is an intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF). It inhibits the activity of vascular endothelial growth factors.
Indications
Wet-active age-related macular degeneration (first-line treatment for patients with visual acuity between 6/12 and 6/96)Wet-active age-related macular degeneration (if visual acuity is less than 6/96, only if the patient’s overall visual function is likely to improve, e.g., if the affected eye is the patient’s better-seeing eye)wet macular degenerationneovascular (wet) age-related macular degenerationmacular edema following retinal vein occlusiondiabetic retinopathy (in patients with DME)

- Severe, progressive loss of visual acuity despite treatment
