Monoclonal Antibody · Treatment for Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Vedolizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets the "4β7 integrin in the gastrointestinal tract. It inhibits white blood cell (WBC) migration or action by preventing binding to its receptor. It does not appear to induce systemic immunosuppression of other 4β7 integrin-binding antibodies such as natalizumab because it does not bind to the majority of 4β7 integrin on lymphocytes.
