Mechanism

Vortioxetine directly modulates serotonergic receptor activity and inhibits the reuptake of serotonin. It acts as an antagonist of the 5-HT3, 5-HT7, and 5-HT1D receptors, a partial agonist of the 5-HT1B receptor, and an agonist of the 5-HT1A receptor. Its actions are not primarily related to serotonin transporter (SERT) inhibition.

Major depression (particularly in patients whose condition has responded inadequately to 2 antidepressants within the current episode)Cognitive dysfunction associated with depression

Dosing
