Mechanism

Acrivastine is a second-generation H1-receptor antagonist that causes less sedation and psychomotor impairment compared to older antihistamines due to its slight penetration of the blood-brain barrier. It has also been shown to inhibit the P-glycoprotein transporter, though the significance of this effect is not yet known.
