Mechanism

Cyclizine is a first-generation antihistamine with anticholinergic (antimuscarinic) properties. It acts centrally in the brain by blocking H1-receptors and muscarinic receptors. This action helps to suppress vestibular stimulation and reduce the sensitivity of the chemoreceptor trigger zone, thereby alleviating nausea and vomiting, particularly that associated with motion sickness and mechanical bowel obstruction.
