Mechanism

Dosing

Adult
Initially 2.25 g daily in divided doses, then reduced to 1.5 g daily in divided doses, as condition improves
Renal adjustment
Avoid if eGFR less than 25 mL/minute/1.73 m2
Hepatic adjustment
Caution in mild to moderate hepatic failure; avoid in severe hepatic failure. Max. 300 mg daily in mild to moderate hepatic failure.
Max dose
2.25 g daily

Contraindications

  • Active peptic ulceration
  • History of peptic ulceration (may disrupt the gastric mucosal barrier)
  • Peptic ulcer patients (may break gastric mucosal barrier)
