Mechanism

Benzodiazepines enhance the inhibitory effects of the neurotransmitter GABA by allosteric interactions with the pentameric benzodiazepine-GABAA receptor complex, specifically at GABAA receptors comprising alpha-2, alpha-3, and alpha-5 subunits.
