Mechanism

Active metabolite of enalapril, potent ACE inhibitor. Blocks the conversion of AngI to AngII, leading to lowered blood pressure and enhanced natriuresis. It also inhibits the degradation of bradykinin and increases levels of Ac-SDKP, contributing to its antihypertensive and cardioprotective effects. ACEIs increase renin release and the rate of AngI formation.
