Mechanism

Hydrocodone is an opioid drug. It functions as an analgesic for pain relief and as an antitussive for cough suppression. The drug undergoes metabolism primarily via the cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) isoenzyme system.

  • Urinary tract obstruction
  • GI obstruction
  • Uncontrolled angle-closure glaucoma
  • Susceptibility to attacks of angle-closure glaucoma
