Mechanism
Macitentan is a dual endothelin receptor antagonist. It was developed by modifying the structure of bosentan, which is a nonselective ET receptor antagonist. It blocks both the initial transient depressor (ETB) and the prolonged pressor (ETA) responses to endothelin.
