Mechanism
Methylcellulose is a bulk-forming laxative that relieves constipation by increasing faecal mass, which in turn stimulates intestinal peristalsis. It also acts as a faecal softener.

Dosing
- Adult
- 3–6 tablets twice daily by mouth
- Geriatric
- It may be necessary to supervise elderly or debilitated patients or those with intestinal narrowing or decreased motility to ensure adequate fluid intake.
