Mechanism

Obinutuzumab is a humanized IgG monoclonal antibody that targets the CD20 molecule on B lymphocytes. This binding leads to B-cell depletion primarily through antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity and complement-mediated lysis, thereby reducing the number of malignant B cells in conditions like chronic lymphocytic leukaemia and follicular lymphoma.

Indications

Previously untreated chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) in patients for whom full-dose fludarabine-based therapy is unsuitable due to co-morbidities, or in combination with chlorambucilPreviously untreated advanced follicular lymphoma (Stage II bulky, III, or IV disease)Follicular lymphoma in patients who are refractory to, or progressed during or up to six months after treatment with, rituximab or a rituximab-containing regimen, or achieved a partial remission with chemotherapyCLL (in combination with chemotherapy)follicular lymphoma (in combination with chemotherapy)
