Mechanism

Rizatriptan acts as a selective 5HT1-receptor agonist. Its mechanism of action in migraine is believed to involve selective binding to 5HT1B/1D receptors, leading to cranial vasoconstriction and inhibition of pro-inflammatory neuropeptide release, thereby alleviating migraine symptoms.
