Mechanism

The rubella virus vaccine is a live attenuated vaccine (strain RA 27/3) that induces immunity to prevent rubella infection. Its primary goal is to prevent congenital rubella syndrome, which can cause miscarriage, preterm birth, stillbirth, or various birth defects.
