Mechanism

The yellow fever virus vaccine is a live attenuated virus vaccine that induces immunity against yellow fever, a mosquito-borne flaviviral disease causing systemic symptoms, hepatitis, hemorrhagic fever, and potentially death.

Indications

prevention of yellow fever for children older than 9 months and adults traveling to high-risk areas

Dosing

Adult: single dose generally suffices; should be given at least 10 days before travel to an endemic area
Pediatric: children older than 9 months
