Hydroflumethiazide is a thiazide diuretic that acts as an inhibitor of the Na+-Cl– symporter (ENCCl or TSC). This symporter is predominantly expressed in the kidney and localized to the apical membrane of distal convoluted tubule (DCT) epithelial cells. By inhibiting this symporter, Hydroflumethiazide reduces sodium and chloride reabsorption, leading to increased excretion of water, sodium, and chloride.
