Mechanism

Triamcinolone exerts predominantly glucocorticoid effects with minimal mineralcorticoid effect. It acts by suppressing inflammatory and allergic responses through its glucocorticoid activity.

Adult
40 mg (max. per dose 100 mg) by deep intramuscular injection into the gluteal muscle for depot effect, repeated if necessary.

Half-life
Plasma t1/2 is 3 to 5 h, but the receptor-bound drug within responsive cells prolongs the half-life of effectiveness to ~36 h.
