Mechanism

Brivaracetam acts on synaptic vesicle glycoprotein 2A (SV2A). It is listed as targeting SV2A in the molecular targets of antiseizure drugs.

Decreased plasma concentrations of brivaracetam, potentially leading to reduced efficacy and increased seizure frequency.

Monitor brivaracetam plasma concentrations and/or clinical response (seizure control) when co-administering with rifampicin. A dose increase of brivaracetam may be necessary. Monitor for signs of reduced efficacy.
