Mechanism

Eslicarbazepine acts by targeting voltage-gated sodium channels (Nav). This action helps to modulate neuronal excitability, which is characteristic of antiepileptic drugs.

Adult
Monotherapy: initially 400 mg OD for 1-2 weeks, then 800 mg OD, increase if needed to 1.2 g OD (max 1.6 g). Adjunctive: initially 400 mg OD for 1-2 weeks, then 800 mg OD (max 1.2 g).

1.6 g/day (monotherapy); 1.2 g/day (adjunctive)
